Mr. K. M. Rezaul Hasanat (David), a post graduate in Business Management from Dhaka University, started his apparel business in 1996. Ever since, he expanded his venture into backward linkage industries such as Fabric and Spinning. Under his leadership, VIYELLATEX group came into existence in 2002 and has become one of the fastest growing business conglomerates in Bangladesh, having market presence from Textile/Apparel sector to other businesses like logistics, plantations, power, etc. Mr. Hasanat has emerged as a dynamic business person over the years and achieved many local and international accolades. In his short journey, he received one of the most prestigious awards, the Business Person of the Year by DHL and the Daily Star in 2007 and was also adjudged as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) by the Government of Bangladesh three years in running from 2009 to 2011. In addition, Mr. Hasanat led VIYELLATEX to a few other prominent awards such as the CSR Award, 2008, Climate Award, 2010, Export Excellence Award, 2009 and 2010. VIYELLATEX is also declared as the Strategic Partner of PUMA. In recognition for his initiatives, he was invited to speak on the United Nations Forum on Green Economy in New York and also in the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) Private Sector Forum held in Istanbul, Turkey in 2010 and Vienna, Austria in 2012. He is also a renowned personality in the international scene as he has been elected as the President of the UNGC Bangladesh Network in 2012. Mr. Hasanat is a member of the Board of Trustees of the CSR Center (Corporate Social Responsibility) since May, 2011, one of the only formal organizations in Bangladesh specializing in activities that facilitate, encourage and create awareness on Corporate Social Responsibility issues among private organizations. He has also been made an Independent Director of the Board of Directors of Bata Shoe Company (BD) Ltd. in June, 2011. Born in the early 1960’s, Mr. Hasanat hails from a traditional Muslim family from Noagaon. He is married and a father of two sons. He is a keen golfer and has won many amateur tournaments to his credit, including the Fu-Wang Championship in 2001.
